Mia Weinstein

Young Leadership Award

Mia Weinstein is an example of young leadership at its finest.   Her service to our school, her synagogue, and the local Jewish community sets an example for others who want to give of themselves and contribute to Jewish life.

Mia became involved in BCDS’s Parents Association as soon as her first child began Kindergarten. She co-chaired the BCDS Auction for two years and soon became a PA Board member.   Elected to a two-year term as President of the PA, Mia continued to energize the organization and bring creativity to the PA’s mission of supporting our school and strengthening the connection with our parent body.   At the beginning of this academic year, Mia was nominated and elected to Bi-Cultural Day School’s Board of Trustees.

Mia is an active member of her synagogue, Temple Beth El in Stamford, where she received the Rose Rosner Award for volunteer service to the Sisterhood.  She currently serves on the Temple’s Board of Trustees.

Mia is a graduate of the first class of Behrend Institute for Leadership, a program offered by UJF of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien and sits on the Board of the Women’s Philanthropy Division of UJF.  Through UJF, Mia has been a volunteer reading tutor in a Stamford public elementary school for the past nine years.

Mia and her husband Lonny have lived in Stamford for nearly 14 years and have two children who are current students at BCDS, Emily (8th grade) and Eddie (5th grade).
