ABOUT US

Bi-Cultural Day School, located in scenic Stamford, Connecticut is a Jewish day school which welcomes and celebrates the diversity of the Jewish community. Bi-Cultural’s reputation as a proven and progressive leader in secular and Judaic studies has consistently garnered national attention. The school was founded by a group of visionaries with Mr. Walter Shuchatowitz, as founding principal in 1956.

Today, over 360 students in grades Pre-K through eighth enjoy small classes, experienced and dedicated teachers, and outstanding facilities on a 13 acre campus. Bi-Cultural combines Jewish tradition and values with innovative curricula, cutting edge technology and extra-curricular activities to produce proud and self-confident American Jews who ultimately serve as leaders in their high schools, universities and communities.

Bi-Cultural hums with its own unique energy, one which visitors feel from the moment they step into the building. At Bi-Cultural, the air is filled with the song and laughter of happy children who take delight in learning, in Jewish tradition and in the friendships they make here. Little ones skip arm-in-arm down the hallways while middle school children chitchat at their lockers. Parents and Grandparents are always welcome at the school, where their involvement is encouraged by teachers and administrators. Visitors are invited to make an appointment to come see the school and attend our Early Childhood events.

OUR MISSION

Teaching Minds, Reaching Hearts

Bi-Cultural…is a community day school embracing students and families across the Jewish spectrum and inspired by a deep respect for all family traditions while guided by Modern Orthodoxy.

…provides a nurturing and academically stimulating environment that enables every student to achieve excellence in both secular and Jewish studies. An innovative values based curriculum enables our students to become educated, committed and ethical members of their communities.
Menschlechkeit – building character – is our values standard.

…students develop pride in their heritage. This is accomplished by teaching the fundamentals of Judaism: Torah, Hebrew language and love of Israel. By engaging students in meaningful religious, cultural and chesed experiences we strive to deepen their connection to Judaism and the Jewish people.

…recognizes that each student learns differently, and that all children need to succeed. Therefore, Bi-Cultural respects the individual needs of each student and provides enrichment and remediation in keeping with their individuality, as well as a broad extra-curricular program to provide a well-rounded experience.

…is a family. Our goal is to maintain an active partnership involving students, faculty, parents and the greater Jewish community.

…gives its graduates the building blocks to become accomplished, committed and principled leaders in their secondary schools, universities, professions and communities.
