Elisheva Kilner

Jane Shoztic Memorial Award

On any given school day around 6:15AM you will find Morah Elisheva Kilner opening up Bi-Cultural Day School for another exciting day of learning and ruach! Elisheva has been a mainstay at BCDS for the past 28 years.

As the coordinator of Jewish studies for grades 1-8, Morah Elisheva’s job description includes a multitude of responsibilities. She orders everything from art supplies to zebra pattern borders for the teachers’ bulletin boards. Elisheva serves as mentor and support to both Judaic and secular teachers, as well as, an amazing resource to administrators and parents.

You are always welcomed in Morah Elisheva’s classroom, where you will be greeted by calming purple walls and a comfy rug.  Look around and you will see lovely green plants and foliage…and, of course, her famous “Klavim Tovim” (good dogs) pictures and posters and cards.

Elisheva’s commitment to Jewish education has extended beyond the walls of BCDS, having taught Hebrew school in both Stamford and Norwalk. She has served on the Board of Congregation Agudath Sholom, and as the principal of its Hebrew school for three years. She has also been a volunteer at Waveny Care Center, New Canaan for over thirty years.

Elisheva holds a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Vermont.  In 1998, she was the first recipient of the Behrend Foundation Award, granted annually to a member of the faculty. We are delighted to honor Morah Elisheva Kilner, a true gem of Bi-Cultural Day School.
